IT IS BETTER LATE THAN NEVER DOING MY SECOND MOVIE REVIEW AND INSIGHTS HERE IN MY WORDPRESS.
I really feel good that I didn’t watch Superman because a lot of friends and reviews discouraged me from watching it.
When I watched Captain America: Civil War, it was truly worth the amusement tax.
The start of the movie was truly good and the transition of the story for this part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe from The Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man was better than I expected.
I really like the buildup of this movie for the Black Panther and Spider-Man and they really deserve those overhypes in those trailers and memes. Black Panther’s costume was just stoked and Spider-Man’s was still comic book accurate especially the eyes but still it is better than Andrew Garfield’s mask. Spidey’s mask for this appearance would truly match Tobey McGuire’s costume.
Emily VanCamp reprising her role as Sharon Carter is just wow! I just find it disturbing that she has a thing for Captain America who is as old as Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) her aunt that grew old in the cinematic universe but remained young in her spinoff series, ‘Agent Carter’ shown in Fox. Since I first saw her in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’, Emily VanCamp became my instacrush and she really blew me away.
Sebastian Stan’s character, The Winter Soldier or Bucky Barnes is pretty much the same Soviet Union assassin that he portrayed from ‘The Winter Soldier’ but this time he was trying his best to control himself from killing any one. His comic tandem with Falcon truly brought the lighter side of the movie despite the intensity and action that it has.
I did not recognize Daniel Brühl in this one since ‘Inglorious Basterds’ when he portrayed the fictional glorified Nazi Frederick Zoller in ‘Inglorious Basterds’.
Robert Downey Jr. as a not so evil Iron Man did well and gave us a better portrayal of Tony Stark just to turn Captain America to the US government since the premise (even from the comic books) is that Cap and Iron Man had issues in becoming one with the US government rather operating as an independent organization.
As for the things that this movie introduced and what it leads to the course of what will the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be, I don’t know how the people at Marvel will make the next Spider-Man movie, because it’s funny yet it bugs me that Spider-Man/Peter Parker keeps getting younger even Aunt May like how Brad Pitt’s character Benjamin Button developed as a human being.
I’m sure Marvel won’t keep on showing how Uncle Ben died with Spider-Man just coming in like that web yanking Captain America’s shield. They just continued with it like the transition from Michael Keaton to Val Kilmer.
I’m not a fan boy of love stories but it would be interesting for me and a lot of people if the people at Marvel would set a love triangle between Mary Jane Watson, Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker just for this new Spider-Man.
What would be more interesting for me is if they can bring in Felicia Hardy. Who is popularly known in the Spider-Man franchise as the Black Cat and I would really pay money to the finest cinema here in Metro Manila to see that happen in the big screen then the next Spider-Man villain should be one villain who is the closest to reality and would really turn things around in this reboot not just Spider-Man himself. I think it’s high time for Black Cat to enter the cinematic universe.
Spider-Man and Black Cat is the counterpart of the Batman-Catwoman tandem in DC Comics. There is not much difference between the feline characters. The only difference is that Black Cat’s arsenal are her claws while Catwoman has her whip and claws. As anti-heros, both characters strongly flirt with their heroes.
It’s hard to pick that Spider-Man villain but if I were to pick that villain for the next Spider-Man movie it would have to be, Shocker, Scorpion or Kraven the Hunter all in the same movie. Since villains like Green Goblin and Hobgoblin have already been presented during Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s run as Spider-Man respectively.
I thought they would bring in the Black Panther the way they do in the comics and animated versions but his entry to this movie is more than appropriate. Chadwick Boseman for me truly redeemed himself after the heavily CGI movie ‘Gods of Egypt’ didn’t turnout good because the CGI for this movie is way better.
I don’t know what year will they show Black Panther’s standalone movie because after watching Civil War, I really became excited for his own movie. I don’t know if they would still show Ulysses Klaw from ‘Age of Ultron’ because he is the closest villain I know in Wakanda since the Avengers all went there and it is from Ulysses Klaw where Ultron got his Vibranium for his new body.
Other things that still keep me wondering up to this moment is what is going on with the Hulk and Thor while Cap and Tony are beating the crap out of each other and letting these new characters come in.
I don’t want to break the fourth wall like Deadpool but I think Chris Hemsworth is not just busy as the Huntsman with Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain. Another issue for me is that Chris Hemsworth is too good-looking to take sides on this one.
On a serious note, I just think they are setting up everything for Thor: Ragnarok that made him absent and also the Hulk which makes me think that Hulk would show up in Thor: Ragnarok.
What I expect in that movie is a flashback scene that shows what the Hulk really saw when Scarlet Witch did her magic in Age of Ultron when we saw everyone’s in darkest fear.
As for Ant-Man, I really can’t wait for the sequel of his movie but it seems that Ant-Man 2 won’t happen just yet because after Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) showed to his daughter Hope Pym (Evangeline Lilly) a Wasp suit and it seems that Wasp would be having her standalone movie first before Ant-Man’s sequel.
For Scarlet Witch and Vision, seems that they won’t be starring in their own movie just yet.
It seems that they have found chemistry for the two which is also evident in the cartoons and comics.
That’s all I can say for Civil War. I don’t want to give that much insight any more because it’s also hard but all I know is that it is worth seeing before X-Men: Apocalypse then I will be having my own insights about that too.
