The Same Circus With A New Bunch of Freaks

(President Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Leila de Lima)

I’m really happy that I did not vote for Rodrigo Duterte during the last elections. But I did consider on voting for him along with the late senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago. I’m also happy to see him argue with Senator Leila de Lima, a person who has been his nemesis since his days as mayor of Davao City, and de Lima who was then chairperson of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), respectively.

As of this writing de Lima still believes that there really is an armed group that gets rid of criminals in Duterte’s stronghold of Davao City which is the Davao Death Squad. There’s really no proof that there is a Davao Death Squad, unless you believe the statements made by Edgar Matobato during the Philippine Senate’s probe towards extrajudicial killings and summary killings.

Like Jack the Ripper and Loch Ness Monster, it has yet to be proven. More important is the leadership and authority of Duterte in this squad is yet to be proven.

I have never set foot on Davao City but to believe that there is a Davao Death Squad is simply absurd. Because if there really a Davao Death Squad in Davao, government officials should also have their own version death squads for the sake of getting rid of criminals or their political rivals in their city or province.

De Lima V Duterte and Aguirre

It may look childish for some people that these government officials are arguing at any time of the day in this country, but to see it on the news or read about on paper is really entertaining than the soap operas provided by the networks in the Philippines.

What’s childish for me is Senator Antonio Trillanes IV versus Senator Alan Peter Cayetano arguing.

An ironic detail in this feud between Duterte and de Lima is they graduated from the same law school, San Beda College of Law. Duterte is years ahead of de Lima in their post graduate education. Even the appointed justice secretary of the Philippines, Vitaliano Aguirre II is a graduate of San Beda College of Law.

Recently, it is not only the president that de Lima is confronting; she is also confronting her successor in the Department of Justice, Secretary Aguirre who really hit it hard in presenting Herbert Colangco before the House of Representatives. De Lima answered back to Aguirre’s presentation in the House by telling the press that Aguirre forced Colangco to testify and the evidence is as false as the current secretary’s hair. To which I don’t care if Secretary Aguirre is wearing a wig.

Herbert Colangco

Herbert Colangco

As for the involvement of Herbert Colangco he told the nation that de Lima gave him and his fellow inmates the full VIP treatment while he is in the country’s maximum penitentiary, the New Bilibid Prison.

Colangco is a convicted man for drugs and spear-headed a lot of robberies in the early 2000s. The most notable of Colangco’s crimes before he became a recording artist in prison, produced a music video, and a member of the ‘Bilibid 19’ was the robbery at the Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation’s (RCBC) branch in Cabuyao, Laguna in 2008 that left ten people dead. He was arrested in 2009 in Iligan City then on October 2014 he was sentenced to life imprisonment before the Paranaque regional trial court.

The worst part with Colangco telling the nation what he knows is telling every person watching that hearing, Senator de Lima’s cell phone number. To which I texted de Lima saying, “How are you, you big fat monster?” and also, “Are you sleeping well?” if you are a advocate of the Liberal Party.

Valuable Inmate

Jaybee Sebastian

The people only know of Colangco and his so-called rival Jaybee Sebastian. Two people who really lend their drug money towards the lady senator’s campaign back in May.

What’s curious about Jaybee Sebastian is why he demands to speak only to the president with what he knows about the Bilibid drug trade and other information, according to his lawyer.

Jaybee Sebastian is a valuable asset for some because he knows some things that would really place him in danger if he tells that information in public.

Whatever Jaybee Sebastian knows, it would definitely rock the nation. It would release a lot of evil just like how Pandora opened the box that released all of the evil in this world.

Recently, Sebastian is so valuable that the inmates being presented to the House of Representatives say that he had sexual relationships with de Lima when she was secretary of justice that makes de Lima look like a sugar mommy towards Jaybee Sebastian.

It’s just a shame that these events are getting the attention and curiosity of the people in a manner that’s very unethical to some people.

Counting the Days and the Issues

20151222-pageone-davao-mayor-rody-duterte-merry-chritmass-greeting

As much as I do not want to elaborate my perception towards the bombings in the Davao Night Market, I simply think that the explosion is a terrorist plot against President Rodrigo Duterte and the motive for me is psychological because it surely hit his stronghold and to redirect the president’s attention from his war on drugs to securing his stronghold, Davao and the country.

For the moment, the Abu Sayyaf Group is the one to blame for they are the closest terrorist group. Unless the Islamic State of Iran and Syria (ISIS) has truly invaded the country through influence. Another thing that made the incident possible is drug lords that sought refuge to groups like the ASG for the right price.

International spotlight

The one angle that made the Davao explosion happened is the president’s all out war on drugs. Through his close ally, Philippine National Police director general, Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, that really caught the attention of the international media through which Senator Alan Peter Cayetao and Leila de Lima told their versions of what happening to Christiane Amanpour on CNN. Senator Cayetano is cleary on the president’s side since he was Duterte’s running mate, while Leila de Lima is on the contrary.

When the Philippines makes the international headlines in this manner, I’m not that thrilled because simply because it is negative but on the bright side, we are telling the world that we are taking action no matter what it takes.

President Obama was supposed to meet with Duterte in Laos while the G20 summit is taking place. I heard the news that it didn’t push through while I was on my way to school. Which makes me think that Obama is neither ready to face the rough-talking president or they are both occupied with their own obligations. It kept me wondering why didn’t the meeting push through.

This supposed meeting takes me back to what my professor in theology said in his liberal view last Friday. In which he said that Obama wants to meet with Duterte not to tell him of how he should handle the war on drugs properly but to ask Duterte if he could bring back US troops and reestablish bases here.

It’s not simply helping out the Armed Forces of the Philippines to make the Chinese forces run with their heels but for the US to pursue their interests here in the Philippines.

As the exaggeration begins on why President Duterte called President Obama a “son of a *****”, I am now thinking that our president deliberately called it off because he does not really want a foreign power like Obama and the United States to tell him how he should really address the war on drugs and this makes the Philippines defiant for some people. And the action driving the Americans away for us to be left vulnerable against China.

Towards Day 100

The president is beyond his fiftieth day in office for his first one hundred days. The one thing I’m glad about this is how his administration is taking action in each department.

Although questionable of the manner they carry out their operations, I have no issues with the police. The transport department is getting things done slowly but surely. I just hope that with Duterte’s term, they can truly restore the train lines and place more trains.

The justice department should really expand city jails. I pity the criminals detained for they are trying their best to make the most of the spaces they are in. And Jay Taruc’s documentary in GMA7’s i-Witness is enough evidence that city jails and penitentiaries across the Philippines need some expansion. More important is how one prisoner has been detained longer than he should have been because of how slow the process of justice here in the Philippines and reforms should be made to make the process beneficial for both sides.

It’s just a few weeks away before his first one hundred days are over. It’ll be over quick if one person would just sleep on the succeeding days or a person is preoccupied with academics that he fails to check the news.

There are more issues bigger than this in the days to come, and they have yet to unfold.

RECONSIDERING RODRIGO DUTERTE

duterte

After reading Lourd de Veyra’s post in This Is A Crazy Planets for Rodrigo Duterte and his projected inaugural speech on spot.ph I have considered the option of voting for the badass mayor in 2016. Another thing that made me reconsider Duterte is the so-called forum that happened in De La Salle University in which he and his running mate Allan Peter Cayetano are the only tandem who attended the forum which looked more of a campaign just with that university and the things he said in that forum.

Voting for Duterte is good for some of the people but if we really think hard about it, are we really ready for a person like him to run the country especially for people who are not accustomed or used to see news of someone being dumped in the Pasig River or getting hanged in billboards surrounded by people in Quiapo or EDSA with a sign also attached to them like a necklace with the signs saying; “Pusher ako”, “Rapist ako”, “Adik ako” for that matter. More important is for the funeral parlors to be ready to cater a lot of corpses than they use to.

If we vote for the man over any other candidate, he can really win the GOD DAMNED THING. Because everyone is tired of seeing trapos doing these not so subtle commercials that they are already campaigning themselves.

If Duterte really wins the 2016 election don’t expect the crime rate to easily go down that fast but the fear of Duterte himself and the Davao Death Squad will be there for the motherfuckers who dare to make a move under his presidency. I would be thrilled than fearful to see some criminals floating in the Pasig River. If not floating in the river probably placed inside a barrel or drum in very narrow alley within Metro Manila. The Davao Death Squad will now become the Philippine National Death Squad possibly getting rid of the incompetent policemen who are as incompetent and fat like the chief of police in ‘The Simpsons’, Chief Wiggum and replacing the Philippine National Police as a whole.

In that forum at DLSU, it’s good to hear his plans for agriculture since Mindanao has rich rice fields and plantations of some sorts which from my understanding, is really the backbone of the country’s economy not just the region itself. Not these developers who are trying hard to make skyscrapers and skylines. Even ruin Jose Rizal’s background.

When he becomes president, I only hope and pray hard that he can solve the traffic problem in Metro Manila because every mayor in each city of Metro Manila is not really capable of easing the problem but for one thing; Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada and Vice Mayor Isko Moreno did this truck ban to ease the traffic in Manila but then lifted the ban because of pressure from truck drivers and business owners who find it hard to make things work during the window hours.

I hope he plans to regulate the number of cars being sold to individuals and also limiting bus liners to have only this number of buses under each franchises or bus liners. We hope that Duterte encourages people to take public transportation and increase the number of trains for all lines whether it’s the MRT, LRT or even the PNR. Point is we need more trains.

He should have the idea to establish a railroad program that will establish a line that would distribute cargo easily so that cargo vessels won’t have a hard time distributing goods from the Bureau of Customs and ports across the country.

Since Duterte is a law graduate, I hope he improves the justice system with reforms that would bring back the trust and faith of the people who has completely lost their trust and faith with the system. I would like to see a much faster process in the justice system in which appeals will be limited to only one appeal. As for entrusting the justice system I only trust someone who graduated from UP, San Beda, and Ateneo to run the justice system particularly, the Supreme Court.

I don’t really mind Duterte bringing back the death penalty if he wants to because it is just practical because no one is afraid of going to jail these days. His future secretary of justice should have a reform in the penal system that makes corrupt officials eligible for death penalty that would surely get rid of some corrupt officials in power so that they can no longer contaminate the world. They should also turn things around in the New Bilibid Prison by depriving the prisoners of their VIP treatment like Tony Leviste who can enter and exit Bilibid whenever he wants so as Rolito Go, and many other prisoners serving lifetime sentences because of their high profile case. Also get rid of prisoners who can make music videos just within the facility. Give them hell on earth.

With the issue of Duterte taking mathematics out of the curriculum, I completely disagree with his idea of getting rid of math at all because how can one person become qualified to study engineering, architecture, and a business course if one student does not know how to calculate? I may have struggle with the subject especially in Behavioral Statistics when I was still a psychology major but getting rid of math will only benefit the delinquents who struggled with math many times.

Schools in the provinces should expand and have more classrooms because I’m really tired of seeing public schools having this shortage of classes and especially the lack of updated textbooks.

The DSWD under his presidency should not be the DSWD that we know today because of pilfering the relief goods that came to benefit the victims of typhoon Yolanda then hiding the poor and homeless whenever a big time dignitary comes to the country like the ones Dinky Soliman brought to a resort during the Pope’s visit in January 2015.

The DPWH should progress efficiently not only work very fast with Duterte as president especially with the construction of the Skyway because if the people working at the DPWH do not want to lose their jobs they should really do well if they do not want to get a standing ovation from his middle finger and the big PUTANG INA NIYO from his mouth.

It is not only the Skyway that needs to get done under his term or any other candidate. There should be something that would really connect the archipelago under his term from bridges and much stronger Roro boats.

Taking the Commission on Human Rights out of the picture as he wants to is not really a solution because the CHR is just this organization telling us how to care for helpless human beings even if they are criminals who has their pair of testicles tied to a string being pulled by a loose cannon cop traumatizing the criminal to not do it again. But let’s be honest here, Duterte does not only want to get rid of the CHR because of Etta Rosales’ predecessor, Leila de Lima because the way I see it, he only wants to get rid of the criminals and their human right to have a lawyer and seek fair trial.

As for his disputes happening as early as now, it’s not really entertaining to see aspiring presidents talk bad things about each before the campaign proper and the debates because it’s like spoilers to a movie that you have long waited for another sequel then it would just be ruined by a childish argument. But for both Duterte and Roxas, keep it going.

If it is really Election Day tomorrow in the Philippines, I would really vote and pray hard for this guy to win so that the D.O.M. living next to us would stop ranting that he regrets coming back to the Philippines after living in Japan for twenty years.

Give Pity Where Pity is Due

PITYWe have to be sorry for a lot of people. The people in the streets don’t need it anymore and with the campaign season in the Philippines fast approaching the people in power or seeking any government office need it the most.

Why did I say that they need it the most? It is because of how desperate they are to seek power and government office.

I feel sorry for Grace Poe for being a threat to some of the aspiring candidates especially Mar Roxas and Jejomar Binay. I truly feel bad for the things that she’s facing right now especially her disqualification case. But seriously Mar Roxas and Jejomar Binay, does she really pose a big threat to your plans and the Liberal Party as well? I don’t think so. You’re looking at someone who has not served a full term in the senate and may only be a front for some other politician. But if you look at her profile on the senate’s website, she championed the passage of the Freedom of Information Bill in the senate so in a different perspective, she does pose a threat that she might disclose some information that could bring someone down.

FPJ’s daughter or not, I truly feel sorry that she entered a dimension that lead to FPJ’s demise and that is the political arena.

As for her running mate Francis Escudero, I feel sorry that his dream and easy way of entering the Malacanang Palace will remain a dream and Heart Evangelista won’t be an instant first lady (if she dreams of it). I don’t know how many Filipinos will vote for this guy, I just think that the number of vote that he will get will be coming from the fans of his wife.

I am truly sorry for Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte that he could not make up his mind at first when everyone was dreaming of the presidency and filing for their certificate of candidacies. I don’t hate Duterte for his sudden change of mind, but letting someone file for you when really want to run for president is insulting everyone’s intelligence because having a commercial months ago in which Mayor Duterte rode a motor cycle trying to be Marlon Brando on the Wild One is really a giveaway that he is running and you don’t have to be a summa cum laude with a degree in sociology or political to understand that kind of thing because that is part of the culture in Philippine Politics. Another is when he said something about the Pope and a lot of people are not so open-minded about his opinion. Is it really the first time for people in this country to hear a news that someone said something bad towards the Pope?

As for the guy who filed that certificate of candidacy for Duterte. Nice move though but not that nice.

Like Francis Escudero, I feel bad for his running mate Allan Peter Cayetano for being ambitious, a brat and a cry baby. Allan Peter Cayetano won’t be able to bring his “angas” to Malacanang. What I also pity about Cayetano is his ignorance that his wife Taguig Mayor, Lani Cayetano is showing her own brand of corruption while attacking Jejomar Binay.

As for Jejomar Binay, I pity a fool like him because he keeps on reiterating that he is like the many Filipinos who struggle with living in the slums or suburbs, having the same skin color and having less in life.

Seriously Mr. Vice President you think you are really one of us? For all I know you didn’t improve the lives of the middle class living in Makati. The squatters and beggars in Makati are everywhere in Buendia the last time I went to meet a friend in Makati.

What I truly feel sorry about the Vice President is having a corrupt family and raising corrupt children also the fact that the people of Makati have known only one man and family ruling their city for almost thirty years. For congresswoman Abby Binay, at first I thought you would be a better person to run as senator because you have already government experience in Congress but since I don’t live in Makati, I cannot easily judge you harshly since you are not holding a national position. As for Junjun Binay, don’t be a cry baby like your rivals from Taguig and for Senator Nancy Binay, you should have let your sister run for that position. But what can I do now, your family is treating public service your own family business.

For Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, I only wish that some of the people who admire you would understand why you chose Senator Marcos as your running mate because at first I was shocked to know that Senator MDS chose the gentleman from Ilocos Norte to be his running mate and the fact that he is a Marcos is really alarming for some. Some people would understand why she chose Bongbong to be her running mate because the man has been in government for almost his entire life. This even includes the time that he was just his father’s son. Then he became governor, congressman of Ilocos Norte and now senator. If we base his credentials from the Senate’s page and the number of bills filed and passed on the same website, the man is really more than credible to hold the position of Vice President.

I don’t know if Senator Miriam loss a number of her fans because of that move but having Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on her side could either make or break her campaign. Conspiracy theories and speculations for both senators would arise in the campaign period proper such as the speculation that the Bongbong Marcos we know is not really the Bongbong Marcos as we know him or senator Defensor-Santiago using her illness just to garner a lot of vote since she has that many fans. Furthermore, their detractors will only try their best to find that weak spot.

Okay Mar Roxas where should I start? Let us start feeling sorry on how screwed up he is when he could not set aside politics from principles to help out everyone during the Yolanda crisis in Tacloban in which he made Tacloban Mayor Alfred Romualdez cry in public during a hearing, another is addressing him that he is a Romualdez and that the president is a Aquino in that infamous video. More important is provoking incumbent Congressman Martin Romualdez from the first district of Leyte to show that commercial on TV which obviously is a campaign advertisement. Another screwed up thing is not on TV but circulating at the internet is a subliminal video of Mar Roxas and Leni Robredo with some celebrities and I could not stand watching it (did not want to lose some of my brain cells which some I already in my previous major). I also feel sorry for Mar Roxas for having Korina Sanchez as his wife.

I truly feel sorry for his running mate Leni Robredo who got mixed up with politics after DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo’s death. Leni Robredo is nothing but a puppet of the Liberal party. She is right now the next Cory Aquino for using her husband’s death first for running as congresswoman of Naga and now the newest puppet of the Liberal Party. Congratulations.

To finish off this post, I want to give a very special mention to Secretary Joseph Emilio “Jun” Aguinaldo Abaya of the DOTC and Chairman Francis Tolentino of the MMDA for being the most incompetent people of the Aquino cabinet who could not find a solution to ease the traffic and the long lines in the MRT making a lot people suffer every day from the working class, ordinary commuters and to the students who travel. For the both of you, do not be offended when your ancestor is depicted as the mastermind of killing two National Heroes and that our city is describe as the gates of hell.
